The Holiday Season has begun. Every year Christmas decorations and Music become available earlier and earlier it seems but their is always the “official” start to the Holiday season; Black Friday. The day where retail stores all over have insane lines for insane deals and doorbusters.
That is not all that happens though. This year Fairfax County police officers arrested 9 protesters in front of a Wal-Mart in Fairfax Virginia this morning while shoppers headed in and out of the store looking for Black Friday deals.
The 9 arrested protestors were a part of a demonstration of roughly 200 people.
Protestors chose Black Friday because they saw it as the best opportunity to call attention to their cause. They are asking Wal-Mart to pay workers a wage of at least $25,000 a year.
The protesters were there as part of a national demonstration taking part at many Wal-Mart stores across the country, to speak out against what the protesters see as unfair working conditions facing the employees of many big box retailers across the country, including Walmart. Over 1,000 protests were planned at Walmart locations around the country Friday.
