Cascades Fire Chase 10k and .911 Fun Run!

Cascades 10kGet your shoes ready for Cascades annual 10k or .911 mile fun run at 8:00 am on Saturday, May 24. Last year there was over 700 participants and this year they are expecting even more. This is a great activity for families to come together and do something outdoors to kick off the summer season and help a great cause. And the best part is that you get a free t-shirt whether you’re running the 10k or the fun run.

The 10k course winds through the Lowes Island community in Cascades giving you an opportunity to get a feel for the area on race day. The race starts and finishes at the Lowes Island Community Center, where there will be a variety of booths set up from local vendors, organizations and the Cascades HOA so you can see some of the great things the community offers. Before you head out you can also take a peek at the gym, pools, bocce and tennis courts offered at the community center (one of the five community centers provided to all Cascades residents). The course also takes you by Trump National Golf Course, home of the 2017 Senior PGA Championship, where if you are able to look left and keep your balance, you will be treated to some spectacular views. However the best is saved for last. Just when your legs are getting a little weary, as you’re making your way through the second loop and approaching the finish line, there’s some extra motivation and inspiration as you run under the huge American flag suspended from two fire trucks as hundreds of neighbors cheer you on.

And if you are thinking of buying a home in the area it is a great chance to see the community in action, check out some homes on the market and meet potential neighbors.

All in all this is a great community event for a great cause. To register for the race, please go to www.cascades10k.com and look for our Cascades race. This race benefits the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company and helps them purchase much needed equipment.
