Oktoberfest-ive!

Fall is one of my favorite times of year.  Sure the weather going from hot and humid to cool and crisp is nice; getting out to hike the nearby Great Falls National Park or even Sky Meadows State Park in Delaplane, Virginia, and take in all the changing colors in the leaves is always something I look forward to.  But the unsung hero in the fall in the Loudoun County area is the abundance of unique craft beer breweries pouring signature Oktoberfest and Pumpkin flavored beer!

RhinoFest Beer

For instance, the Lost Rhino Brewing Company, located in Ashburn, has a fantastic classic Oktoberfest Maerzen-style brew, cleverly named their RhinO’Fest – be sure to go on the weekends for the discounted growler fill-ups!  Or, head over to Chantilly area and find one of my year-round favorites, the Dogfish Head Alehouse, and try out their Punkin’ Ale; just this year, they started offering a twist on their Punkin’ Ale by mixing it with other standard bearers like their Ninety Minute Ale, which then gives a “Nunkin’ Ale!”  Or, check out the Sweetwater Tavern, with locations in Sterling and Centreville, their Ghost Town Pumpkin Ale is not to be missed.

Bupunkin-alet if you’re unsure what’s for you, the Northern Virginia area has you covered!  Because with Oktoberfest celebrations spanning from Arlington to Lovettesville, and Leesburg to Centreville, representing anywhere from a handful to 50-75 breweries depending on the event, you will have more sampling than you’ll know what to do with!
