The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has plans to open up Phase 1 of the Silver Line with service to the Wiehle-Reston East station by January 2014. When complete, the extension will be 23.1 miles in length and will connect places such as Tysons Corner, McLean, Reston, and Herndon to the existing Orange Line.
The second phase of the Silver Line will extend all the way to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) with passenger service planned to begin by 2018. These will be the first stops to connect Loudoun County to WMATA’s Metrorail system, including a proposed stop at Route 722/Ryan Road in Ashburn.
Our neighbors that commute for work will be thrilled to see this extension up and running since it will connect Tysons Corner, the state’s largest employment center, and Reston/Herndon, the second largest employment concentration, to their homes in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
Curious how this may affect your decision to sell or buy a home in the vicinity of the new Silver Line? Give me a call, I would love to talk through your options with you.
